Super Girl Pro Returns to Jacksonville Beach: Women’s Surfing and First Coast Culture
November 7–8, 2026 | Jacksonville Beach Pier & SeaWalk Pavilion
A weekend when the First Coast takes center stage
There is something special about seeing world-class surfing unfold on our stretch of the Atlantic coastline. This weekend, the Super Girl Surf Festival returns to Jacksonville Beach for two days celebrating women in surfing, sports, music and community.
The professional surf competition takes place at the Jacksonville Beach Pier, while the festival village and concerts are centered at SeaWalk Pavilion. For local surfers and beachgoers, it is a chance to experience a major women’s sports event right here at home—and to see Jacksonville Beach become part of a much bigger conversation about women in action sports.

The surfing: professional competition at the pier
The World Surf League women’s competition is one of the weekend’s main attractions. The event offers surfers valuable points toward qualification for the 2027 Women’s Championship Tour. Competition is scheduled across Saturday and Sunday, November 7–8.
Saturday’s published schedule lists WSL Round 1 from 9:00–11:40 a.m. and Round 2 from 11:40 a.m.–2:20 p.m. Sunday’s schedule lists Round 3 from 9:00–11:40 a.m., quarterfinals from 11:40 a.m.–1:20 p.m., semifinals from 1:20–2:10 p.m., longboard exhibition heats from 2:15–2:55 p.m., and the WSL final from 3:00–3:30 p.m. Surf awards are listed for 3:40–4:00 p.m.
Surf schedules can change with conditions and event operations, so check the official schedule before heading to the beach.

More than a surf contest
Super Girl is designed as a broader women’s sports, music and lifestyle festival. The official program includes beach volleyball, beach soccer, beach flag football, a girls’ lacrosse clinic, mentorship programming, skate clinics, a 5K, a female lifeguard competition, a cheer and dance showcase, and a festival village.
Saturday’s concert lineup includes Gym Class Heroes and Lupe Fiasco, among other performers. Sunday’s headliners include B.o.B and Switchfoot. The official festival website describes the concerts as free, with preregistration required and entry subject to capacity.

A local lens: documenting the surf culture around the event
At Sandbar Sofa Surfers, we’re interested in more than the result of a heat. We want to document the places, people, activity and atmosphere that make Northeast Florida surfing distinct.
The Jacksonville Beach Pier is part of the visual identity of this coastline. The waves, the shoreline, the people watching from the beach and the crews working behind the scenes all contribute to the story of a surf event.
For this feature, we went back to our own video archive and pulled still photographs from footage recorded at a previous Super Girl event. These are archival images—not photographs of the upcoming 2026 competition. They offer a look back at the surfing and event atmosphere we’ve been documenting.
From our video archive
These stills were extracted from original Sandbar Sofa Surfers video clips. They include competition action, the pier setting, broadcast production and festival activity. We’re sharing them as part of an ongoing effort to preserve a visual record of First Coast surf culture.

Why events like this matter
Professional events bring visibility, opportunity and inspiration. They give young athletes the chance to see women competing at the highest levels, and they connect a local beach community with a wider surfing audience.
But the local story matters just as much. The spectators on the sand, the photographers along the shoreline, the families enjoying the festival and the surfers who know these breaks all help give the event its First Coast character.
That is the story we want to keep documenting: not just a weekend on the calendar, but the people and places that shape our relationship with the ocean.
